Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park
Half a dayA park on the mountain slopes above Yalong Bay — the "No. 1 Bay Under Heaven". The popular Chinese comedy "If You Are the One 2" was filmed here, and the views really are cinematic: a glass viewing platform above the forest and a suspension bridge between the peaks. From above, the whole bay opens up with its turquoise water. An easy walk for anyone who loves a view and atmospheric photos.
Yanoda Rainforest
A full dayA genuine 5A-rated tropical forest of about 45 km² with nearly 98% forest cover — known as a natural "oxygen bar". The name "Yanoda" is a local greeting, something like "hello" and "one-two-three". Suspension bridges, trails among vines and banyans, waterfalls and mountain streams await. A great day for the active and for families — there are easier routes and more challenging ones.
Nantian Hot Springs
Half a dayA thermal mineral springs resort by Clear Water Bay. Here you will find dozens of open-air pools — each with a different mineral content and temperature, including aromatic ones: coconut, coffee and tea, plus a pool with doctor fish. You can drift unhurried from one to the next, relaxing your body amid the tropical greenery. Perfect for recovery, especially in the evening.

Nanshan Park
Half a day to a full dayA large Buddhist complex on the shore of the South China Sea. Its symbol is a 108-metre statue of the goddess Guanyin, one of the tallest in the world: its three faces look out over the island and the sea. Among the gardens, pavilions and ponds, you can feel time slow down. For anyone who wants to see the spiritual heart of Hainan and take photographs that stay with you.
"Romance of Sanya" Park
Half a day (evening)A theme park in the spirit of an ancient town, with dozens of stages and interactive scenes by day. Its centrepiece is the grand evening show "Romance of Sanya": a large production of about an hour, with acrobatics, special effects and the island’s legends from ancient Yazhou to the Maritime Silk Road. Spectacular, musical and clear without words. A wonderful evening for couples and for the whole family.
Li & Miao Villages
Half a day to a full dayA chance to meet Hainan’s indigenous peoples — the Li and the Miao — at the Binglanggu (Areca Valley) cultural park. Living crafts are kept alive here: Li weaving and embroidery, inscribed on the UNESCO heritage list, fire-making by friction, and pottery. Open-air museums, traditional music and a vivid folk performance. A warm, heartfelt excursion for anyone drawn to people and traditions.

Yacht cruise
Half a dayThe sea from its finest angle — from the deck of a yacht along the Sanya coast. Along the way: a swim in the open water, views of the bays and the skyscrapers of the bay, and, if you wish, fishing and drinks on board. You can arrange a private outing for your party or your couple and meet the sunset at sea. Calm, beautiful and a touch of resort luxury.
Diving off Wuzhizhou Island
Half a day to a full dayWuzhizhou is called the "Chinese Maldives" — one of the best diving spots in the country. Underwater visibility reaches 27 metres, and more than 300 species of fish live among the corals. It is comfortable for beginners with an instructor and rewarding for experienced divers; for those who do not dive, there is snorkelling and clean beaches. The sea is warm almost all year round.

Monkey Island
Half a day to a full dayA nature reserve for macaques on the Nanwan peninsula. You reach it by the longest over-sea cable car in China — about 2.1 km above a bay dotted with fishing farms, and the ride alone is an experience. Hundreds of free-roaming monkeys live on the island, with shows and viewpoints over the sea. Children are thrilled — one of our favourite family excursions.
Sanya Safari Park
A full dayA wildlife park on a tropical island: some animals live in spacious enclosures, others in a drive-through zone where you watch them up close. Tropical birds, monkeys, hoofed animals and predators, themed shows and shaded avenues. Children get a full day of wonder, while adults enjoy a stroll in the shade of the trees. A fine choice for a family day off the beach.

- •Comfortable shoes are essential: parks and forest involve plenty of walking on trails and steps.

- •A little cash in yuan is handy for small purchases and souvenirs.
- •For the sea and diving, bring a swimsuit, a change of clothes and a towel.
- •A light windbreaker or rain jacket is useful in the rainforest and on the water.
- •At temples and cultural sites, modest clothing and calm conduct are appropriate.
